Hoober Stand is a 30-metre (98 ft) high tower on a ridge in Wentworth, South Yorkshire in northern England. It was designed by Henry Flitcroft for the Whig aristocrat Thomas Watson-Wentworth, Earl of Malton (later the 1st Marquess of Rockingham) to commemorate the quashing of the 1745 Jacobite rebellion. It lies close to his country seat Wentworth Woodhouse. Its site is approximately 157m above sea level and from the top there are long-distance views on a clear day. Hoober Stand is one of several follies in and around Wentworth Woodhouse park. The others include Needle's Eye and Keppels Column. Hoober Stand has a vast woodland surrounding the area and it is in this area where the ghost sightings of a Monk have been seen. Orbs and ghostly mists are often captured on camera here too. There is a cave in the woods, which is now closed off, but it is also reported that a very angry spirit is haunting this said cave and many have claimed they were scared away from the area. Demon dogs are another well known paranormal claim in the area and with evidence of witchcraft and black magic been done on this very land it is no wonder that when paranormal investigators visit the area, they often find very compelling evidence of the afterlife. link
