The K2 EMF meter. Most ghost hunting teams and paranormal investigators will have this piece of equipment in their kit. The K2 meter is designed to pick up EMF (Electro Magnetic Fields) and monitor changes within that field. It does not detect ghosts or spirits as such but it can help to provide evidence of the paranormal because it is a theory that ghosts and spirits can manipulate the EMF fields around us to manifest themselves.
The K2 meter has pros and cons, The pros are that it is cheap to buy (around £30 in the UK). It is very well made and durable and can withstand drops and plenty of hard knocks while out investigating, the newer models have a propper on off switch (which is much better than the old design where you had to hold down the power button to keep it turned on) and it also has 5 very easy to see bright LEDs that represent the level of EMF radiation around the device. The cons are that the K2 meter is not totally reliable in the field and mobile phones, walkie talkies, even cameras and RF waves can trigger the device off giving false positives to your results. It runs of a 9v battery which also when running low, can cause false positives too.The LED lights do not give accurate results in terms of exactly how much EMF is been detected but rather just a ball park idea of how much EMF is been detected.
If you buy the K2 meter, make sure your buying a genuine one and not a fake chinese copy of one. The K2 meter also comes in 2 colors, grey or black.
While using the K2 meter for ghost hunting and paranormal research, it is important for the user to understand and clarify what excatly is causing the K2 meter to go off as it could be nothing to do with EMF at all and simply something else such as the users mobile phone transmitting mobile data in his pocket for example.
The Paranormal-X team do recommend the K2 meter for ghost hunting and paranormal research but it is important for the user to understand its flaws to establish if the K2 meter really is detecting a possible spirit manifestation.
